This Chitra Pournami celebration ended with moon-lit dinner for guests

The Mylapore Trio ( Amarnath, Surendranath and Aparna), together with Sugathan and members of the community the Trio promote, celebrated Chitra Pournami by performing Sri Satyanarayana Pooja at a hall at the Trio’s new residence at R. A Puram on Saturday, April 16.

This special pooja was conducted to commemorate the 106th birth anniversary of late Sumukhi (the foster mother of the Mylapore Trio).

The pooja mandapam was colourfully decorated with flowers. Pooja was performed in the evening by priests from Sri Raghavendra Mutt, Mylapore and a special prasadam – white kesari and panchamritham was offered to the Lord.

Nearly 60 people participated, with the young and the seniors dressed in traditional attire. Pooja was followed by a moonlight dinner – the menu included Bisebelabaath, Bagalabaath, Avial, Akkaaravadisal and Karuvadaam.

Prof. A. Amarnath of the Mylapore Trio says that generally Satyanarayana Pooja is performed only on full moon days and it is very auspicious to celebrate this on Chitra Pournami.
