Chennai Metro preparatory work begins in Luz zone

Preliminary work that facilitates the major works on the Chennai Metro line – Light House to Porur – is on now.

Workers are seen at work behind the Gandhi statue and towards the Light House side off the Marina.  This is the site for the major Metro station, with entry/exits on the Light House side and on the Queen Mary’s College side.

This morning,  the CMRL officials of Chennai Metro and TANGEDCO teams were on Luz Church Road to commence  relaying the underground power cable – the short event took place at the Luz Church Road – Karpagambal Nagar junction.

TANGEDCO has been asked to redirect the main underground cable line that currently runs along Luz Church Road, to Luz Circle and on to R. H. Road.

Now, the cable will be relaid towards Karpagambal Nagar side so as to allow Chennai Metro workers to start work on the underground stations at Luz Circle and the rail line that will run from Kutchery Road side towards Alwarpet and then south and west thereon.
