Shanthi Sridharan’s flowers-based kolam design greet people at Navaratri time at temple

Visitors to Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple had a pleasant surprise on Monday evening, day one of Navaratri.

Shanthi Sridharan, who managed the hugely popular Facebook page themed Kolam and a creative person, had recreated in a flowers-based kolam the utsava moorthy of Kapaleeshwarar in the campus.

Shanthi says that after seeing her creations on her FB page, the temple authorities invited her to design specialised poo-kolams at the temple this Navratri.

Mylaporeans will get to see her special creations for three days this season. Says Shanthi, “It takes her about three to four hours to create a big-sized flowers kolam based design.”

She sources flowers from Koyambedu.

A commerce graduate, Shanthi has been a judge at many kolam/Rangoli competitions.
