Chennai Metro: section of TTK Road, C. P. Ramaswamy Road barricaded. Traffic diverted.

To facilitate Chennai Metro work in Alwarpet, since this Saturday morning, traffic moving from the Hotel Crowne Plaza side towards Alwarpet traffic signal junction, is diverted into Bharathidasan Road, into Seethammal Colony and may join TTK Road at the junction.

Thus, the TTK Road section from McDonalds restaurant / C V Raman Road end to near Ethiraja Kalyana Mantapam has been blocked for Metro work. ( photo No.1)

C P Ramaswamy Road, from St Marys Road junction to the Alwarpet flyover point is also barricaded.

So vehicles moving north from the Billroth Hospitals side, will have to take diversions at the Hammedia store / St Marys Road junction; they can either head west towards TTK Road or head east into Abiramapuram zone. ( Photo No.2)

The inner streets in this zone are bound to be chaotic especially at peak hour traffic times when bikers and motorists start taking the inner streets in this area and clog up the flow.

Police on the ground said residents on the barricaded section are being allowed to drive to their homes.

PoliceĀ  said this diversion is for at least a week for now.
