Over 80 artists take part in day-long Art Fest at Nageswara Rao Park on Sunday

Over 80 artists, some from as far as Kanchipuram and Theni and Tirupppur took part in the 4th edition of Art Fest Chennai held at Nageswara Rao Park in Luz on Sunday.

The show, held from 7 am to 7 pm provides the space for artists of all kinds to exhibit their works and for people to look at hundreds of works, interact with the artists, and buy what appeals to them.

Chennai Corporation provided the space for this show; a section of the walkway was used for the displays.

And in Chess Square, three art contests for school kids were held. These drew some 200 participants.

Artists who displayed compact works and priced them in the Rs.2000 – Rs.3000 price range said they either sold some works or had bookings.

Others who offered tiny works that can sit on a showcase or work desk also sold well.

This Fest, which had to break for three years, is curated by editor-publisher Vincent D’ Souza and by Ganapathy Subramaniam, artist, critic and writer.

With enthusiastic queries from artists across the city and outside, the Art Fest series plans to host its next show in summer ( May / June ) at a GCC park in North Madras and one in August in a T. Nagar park or in Pondy Bazaar.

Mylapore Times provided the backend support for this event and the park is managed and maintained by Sundaram Finance.
