This was a different kind of Valentine’s Day celebration. It took place in the Kallukaran Street colony in Mylapore on February 14.
That evening, residents of all ages got together: everybody was in a light mood.
An elder spoke informally, saying that Valentine’s Day was not just about lovers and couples celebrating love but it was a day to express love to the person who was close to you, be it a mother or a father, a sister, a grandmom.
Said senior resident Jambunathan, “We wanted to share with the children the real message of Valentine’s Day.”
Sweetmeats and savouries were shared with those who were present at the street corner, which was restored and is maintained well and is the community’s meeting place.
