Tehneer Arangam’s Alwarpet unit held a simple cookery contest for seniors last week. The theme was ‘fireless cooking’.
Though only a handful of people responded at the venue – Srinivasa Gandhi Nilayam, No.332, Ambujammal Street – all of them got involved enthusiastically. Among them was one man.
Merita Joseph of Dignity Foundation which manages Tehneer Arangam said that the participants presented some surprising dishes – made from bread, poha, milk, curd, vegetables and fruits.
The Arangham, active in Mylapore zone for some years, invites senior citizens to regular events.
Says Merita, “We want to provide space for fellowship, conversation and simple activities.”
