Nine students from C. V. N. Kalari SPARRC Institute based off TTK Road in Alwarpet, participated in the 6th state level Kalaripayattu championship held in Udumulpet, Tamil Nadu on June 24.
*It was the first time in such a contest for these participants and their teacher gurukkal Muralikrishnan and probably the first time for students from Chennai to have been at a Kalaripayattu championship,” said a person associated with this centre.
There were five girls and four boys in this team, aged between 10 and 23 years.
They won a total of 10 individual medals and one paired event.
Six other districts participated in this championship.
This centre is at 311/122B, New Manickam Avenue, off TTK Road, Alwarpet.
Classes held on all days except Sundays in the morning between 6:15 – 7.45.
