Madras Day 2023: 12 schools present their study of old houses of the city at event held at Ranade Library

The Heritage of Chennai Contest for city schools held for the annual Madras Day celebrations took place this Monday, August 14 at the Ranade Library in Luz.
This annual contest offers a theme for school teams to work on and they come together to make live presentations.
‘Two Old Houses of Chennai’ was this year’s theme. 12 schools took part in today’s event. Schools studied houses that were located in T. Nagar and in Triplicane, in Mannady and in Mylapore and elsewhere.
The teens seem to have enjoyed the learning in the field and then, today they learnt a bit more on how they could improve on field study and presentation.
Team DAV Boys School, Gopalapuram was recognised as the best. The other two teams that won prizes were from Padma Seshadri Bal Bhavan, T. Nagar and from TI School, Ambattur.
A special prize was given to the Rani Meyyammai Girls School team who made their entire presentation in Thamizh.
Thanks goes to Hemanth and SINA for the collaboration in providing the space for this event.
Trainer and public speaker Sundararaman Chintamani was the judge, alongside Vincent D’ Souza, editor of Mylapore Times.
