N. Neela, the younger of the Sikkil Sisters, celebrated and senior flautists in Carnatic music, passed away on September 17 morning. She was 85.
She was a resident of Jeth Nagar, Mandaveli.
Neela was decorated with several awards including Padma Shri, Sangita Kalanidhi given by The Music Academy and Sangeet Natak Akademi award.
She, along with her elder sister Kunjumani ( who pre-deceased her) were also top grade artistes of All India Radio and DD, and the duo had performed extensively all over India and abroad.
