Chennai Metro: Activists seek co-ordination meet involving senior police, GCC, MTC officers, MLA and MP

Civic activists are requesting senior officers of GCC, Chennai Police and MTC besides the South Chennai member of parliament and Mylapore MLA to address some serious issues arising from traffic flow re-arrangements, civic attention and providing link bus services due to the Chennai Metro project.

Senior officers, the MLA and MP have not made efforts to have face-to-face meets locally and get involved in addressing key issues that need attention.

Mandaveli resident and activist C R Balaji has mailed a note to all the officers, the MLA and the MP top of this week.

This is the note –

As you are aware, traffic has been diverted around Mylapore / Mandaveli / Luz / Alwarpet due to CMRL work,  your kind attention is invited given under

Though Kutchery Road and Alwarpet diversions started a year ago except for few troubles ( to the public) it is going on well.

Some days ago, Mandaveli MTC Bus Stands at Mylapore Temple Tank and at Luz corner areas were closed and  traffic from Adyar side was diverted via Thiruvengatam Street – Venkatesa Agraharam Road – Dr. Ranga Road to reach Alwarpet – Royapettah and beyond.

School children and residents in these areas are affected by continuous flow of traffic during peak hours additionally exacerbated by honking by MTC and problems posed by potholed roads.

Therefore I request you to organise a coordination meeting with CMRL / GCC / CCTP / MTC with the people of Mylapore and Mandaveli.
