Mockery of civic drive to clear unauthorised hawkers. On Mundagakanni Amman Koil Street,

These civic drives to remove encroachments on roads and streets turn out to be a mockery, a wasted effort.

On Thursday, civic workers, aided by police security all the hawker shops on Mundagakanni Amman Koil Street, mostly those located opposite the busy temple.

The busy road looked clean and clear.

On Friday morning,  the hawkers were back – tables set with goods like flowers and pooja articles. And business was back on the street side. In course of time, new stalls will be set up.

  1. We, the people are also to be blamed. Because of in-built feudalism, we expect ‘authorities’ to solve civic issues. Even when a person dares to question, fellow citizens most times look on blankly and walk away.

  2. Request you to highlight the encroachment by 3 wheeler workshop at the entrance of slaterpuram from M K Amman koil Street. The place near PS School has become an urinal & open bar. Dust bins opposite vegetable shop be shifted to facilitate smooth flow of vehicles.
