Elections 2024: Chennai South candidates do the campaign rounds early

Candidates of leading political parties  have kept to their campaign trails as they battle it out in the Chennai South constituency in the Lok Sabha poll due April 19.

This morning, DMK’s Thamizhachi Thangapandian covered two GCC wards of Mylapore zone, mostly from a jeep; alongside her was the Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu.

She had hurt herself badly yesterday in Saidapet while campaigning and despite doctor’s advice to rest, continued the campaign, using a walk-assisting accessory; this morning she  got down from the jeep for pujas at temples and to meet people face to face.

The AIADMK’s Dr J Jayavaradhan has covered the Marina kuppam colonies closely – this densely habited zone holds a huge number of voters whose ballots are vital.

The BJP’s Tamilisai Soundararajan is covering the Saidapet – T Nagar and Virugambakkam zones of the constituency today before she plans to head to the Mylapore areas.

A photo of her greeting Thamizhachi while at the returning officer’s office in Adyar when filing nomination papers on Monday has been doing the rounds.
