Chennai Metro: deep excavation on in zone where Canal bridge was. Thirumylai rail station area

The contractor of Chennai Metro working in Luz zone has commenced deep excavation in the Buckingham Canal bed on Ramakrishna Mutt road opposite Thirumylai MRTS railway station.
The small bridge was demolished.
Machinery had been taken to the waterway side and work is going on throughout the day and sometime at night
The entire Luz Circle, save for small pathways and one bus/cars/auto pathway, is ‘no go’ zone and will be some for at least 3 years.
This is where the two stations for two rail lines is to be built.
