Elections 2024: brisk polling at many booths since 7 a.m.

The summer heat has driven many voters, mostly seniors and a dults, to queue at poling booths across the Mylapore zone as polling opened today, on April 19, at 7 a.m.

The first photo was shot at the booth at Rajalakshmi School, Mandavelipakkam.

In Alwarpet and Mandaveli, Mylapore and R A Puram booths saw anywhere between 40 to 75 people in the Q.

Photo below was shot at Kumara Rajah Muthiah School, St Marys Road.

In many places, police and staff were helpful to seniors and the less abled, said Mylaporeans. But at others, police refused to encourage seniors to bypass the Q and cast their vote instead of waiting in the Q.

As the morning progressed, a steady stream of people were seen headed to local booths.

Many seniors appreciated the medical help counters set up in many booths – first aid, simple drugs and hydration stuff. ( photo below)
