At Hotel Savera, guests and chefs dipped their hands to make the cake mix. Symbolic event before Christmas

Christmas may be seven weeks away but people who follow some traditions, are up and about to ready the mix for a traditional cake. So Savera Hotel in Mylapore had its cake mixing event on November 4.

A host of guests and hotel chefs put their hands into a large spread of all the ingredients that make a good cake for Christmas.

Ginger, orange peel, nuts and raisins, black currants, apricot, fig, cherries, dates, along with connoisseur’s collection of wine, rum and whiskey to soak the ingredients. The mix was symbolic for the day.

Raji Benny, the hotel’s PR manager said over 200 kilos of dry fruits and some 30 litres of beverages were added to make the mix.

The kitchen staff had lots more to mix and do so in their spaces so that the mix sets in well and is then stored away; it will taken out days before Christmas to be made into cakes.
