R. A. Puram community lends hand to civic workers to get area trees pruned

All major trees in the R. A. Puram area have been pruned by the city’s civic body. This follows a representation made by the local community led by RAPRA.

“There were several avenue trees which had overgrown and the branches block street lighting and in some cases, the branches hang low and pose danger,” said a RAPRA member.

The work of pruning the trees started on January 27  and ended early on February 4

Office bearers of RAPRA, Ravikumar, Arun and Sundar, supervised the operations and organised removal of cars parked in inner streets and co-ordinated with Urbaser Sumeet for removal of chopped branches.

Local area police also came by to regulate traffic late at night even as the pruning was carried out.

Many seniors and women of the area lent a hand in this drive.
