In a year’s time, Adyar-bound traffic from the Mylapore and San Thome side of the city will take a new road that is to be built soon which will be laid inside the campus of the TN Music College and run along the banks of the Adyar river.
This proposal, which has been debated off and on, is now a reality and the state has handed over the project to a private company..
The new facility intends to take the heavy traffic load off the road alongside ‘Jesus Calls’ campus and MGR Janaki College for Women zones and free the traffic from the Adyar side which is headed north, towards R A Puram / Mandaveli / Mylapore.
In order to construct the new road, a few buildings inside the Music College and a slice of properties used by the High Court judges’ for residence, will have to brought down.
Some local residents protested recently when a few old trees on the road leading to the Music College were chopped.
