Hawkers who used to run their business around Luz Circle have begun to set shop on the road leading to Mundagakanni Amman Temple MRTS station in Mylapore.
They had hung on to their patches in Luz long after the area was barricaded for Chennai Metro work, staged protests after they appealed for an alternate hawking space that was slow in coming and some carried on their business that was hurting.
But when the Metro work expanded and ate into the pavement off Luz Church Road where the stalls were located, all of them had to shut shop
A few bunks were set up on Kalvi Varu Street but had to be removed after the local community objected.
So the road off the MRTS station was chosen to set up stalls and this week, a few opened for sales.
