The narrow Kesava Perumal Streets, busy traffic channels in this zone of Mylapore are a messy zone now with a section of the streets here dug up.
People will have to endure this civic issue for some days as a private firm redoes a filtration system that will trap and lead rainwater into the temple tank. ( This is the firm which created an underground filteration tank in the GCC playground off St. Mary’s Road.)
The system off the temple area was created some years ago and according to the private firm which executed the project, it worked well, with lots of water flowing into the Chitrakulam.
It is now being reset since the system has been affected. The new job will cover the area from Sri Anjaneya Temple to the tank zone end where the milk booth is.
At times, when the rains are heavy, the tank have overflowed, with water flowing out on to the narrow streets and East Mada Street.
