Madras Day events this weekend at Ranade Library, Luz

Four events for Madras Day 2025 are being held at the Ranade Library in the Srinivasa Sastri Hall premises in Luz this Saturday and Sunday.

Here is the schedule –

Aug. 9 / Saturday – Tamil Quiz for Tamil medium school teams. Starts 1.45 pm. Team of Rani Meyyammai School, R. A. Puram won the rolling trophy in 2024. Guests are welcome to watch. l

Aug.9 / Saturday – ‘Madras aa? Chennai aa?’ is the theme for six speakers who will talk about their life and experiences in this metro. Sundararaman Chintamani has curated this show. Starts at 6 p.m. For an hour. Open to all.

Aug.10 / Sunday – Writing on the City – is the theme for this writing workshop led by Praveena Shivram, author, columnist and coach. Starts at 3.30 pm. For 90 mins. Free. 17 people have signed up. To register, email – [email protected]

August 10 / Sunday; 5.30 p.m. – Release of ‘Madras Mixture’, a magazine on all things Madras / Chennai. l

One event is lined up for the next weekend.

Aug. 17 / Sunday – Madras Postcrossing Commune hosts many events – 3 p.m. Postcards on Madras Exhibition. 3:30 p.m.: Letters based on Madras – Showcase, reading extracts. 4 p.m.: Postcrossing Meet-up – connect with fellow Postcrossers – to send and receive postcards related to Madras. 4:30 p.m.: Letter Writing Workshop. Open to all.
