Mylapore zone staff of Greater Chennai Corporation are preparing to execute the new initiative by the civic body – to collect worn out goods like sofas, furniture, bedspreads, washroom utilities and the like from the gates of residences.
To make use of the facility one has to call 9445061913 or 1913. Based on the request of the caller the officer will call back and arrange for the collection.
This facility is available only on Saturdays and you need to keep the used goods at the gate, like you do with the garbage that Urbaser Sumeet staff collect daily. A nominal fee will be collected for this service. GCC says that all the goods collected will be Incinerated at a specified location outside the city.
This scheme comes into effect from mid-October.
