Obituary: C. R. Ravi, retired Ashok Leyland senior engineer. Was active CEG alumni, Mandaveli resident

C. R. Ravi, a resident of Norton 1st Street, Mandaveli passed away on November 3.

He was an alumni of P. S. High School (1969/ 1970 batch), having studied under the XI SSLC pattern. He did his PUC studies at Vivekananda College and joined College of Engineering- Guindy where he earned his degree in B E (mechanical engineering).

He attended a post-grad diploma course in production engineering conducted by IIT Madras in the evening while working at Simpsons’ Sembium factory. After a five year stint at Simpsons, he joined Ashok Leyland Ltd., worked in various levels and retired as general manager ( project planning). His tenure here was extended for two more years as consultant and he retired in 2017.

While at CEG – Guindy he was very active in  campus curricular and extra curricular activities. He was also involved in Jaycees and Lions Club activities – he was instrumental in raising funds for club activities by arranging dramas of the Crazy Mohan troupe and shows by other groups.

He was a key members of COSS – Class of Seventy Six at College of Engineering Guindy -. a group of alumni which used to conduct mock interviews for final year students at job placement time. This  group also provided scholarships for needy students.

During the pandemic years, this group helped non-teaching staff of CEG with provisions.
