Ever since some roads in Mandaveli and Luz zones were closed to traffic and to pedestrians, due to work on Chennai Metro projects, the few roadside service providers like cobblers and flower sellers have had to shift and life has been a tad difficult for them since then.
Mylaporeans who patronised these people have lost track of these service providers.
This monsoon, if you want to repair your umbrella you may check out Ravikumar in Venkatakrishna Road in Mandaveli. He is seen at his post on the pavement outside the TN CID Police Housing Quarters, diagonally opposite the old MTC bus terminus, Mandaveli.
Ravikumar is a cobbler but is also good at repairing umbrellas.
We are told his services are good and he does not overcharge. He sits here even when it drizzles, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
