Obituary: S. P. Vasantha (82), well-known licensed stamp vendor

S. P. Vasantha (82), a well-known, senior licensed stamp vendor and a long time resident of Mandaveli, passed away on March 27.

She hailed from Mutharasanallur, Tiruchirappalli district. After marriage in 1961, she moved to Chennai and was a homemaker.

She was married to A. Pattabiraman.

Her father-in-law S. Arunachalam, an officer in the directorate of agriculture, Chepauk, became a licensed stamp vendor in 1962.

He transferred the vendorship in the name of Vasantha in 1982 and since then she was in this business – she ran it for 42 years.

Said her son Radhakrishnan P, ” My mother was very popular as a stamp vendor and earned a lot of goodwill in Mandaveli.”

She leaves behind her husband A. Pattabiraman, daughter R. Vijayalakhsmi and son
P. Radhakrishnan and their families.
