Hundreds of devotees took part in the 1008 pal kudam celebration in connection with Chithirai pournami held at Sri Mundagakanni Amman Temple in Mylapore on May 1.
This practice is a well organised event; the decorated kudams are placed in an order in the temple premises the previous night, people who choose to take part, get a token and join the queue on the day, May 1 this time, and everything is orderly.
Men, women and youth took part.
The procession, which began at dawn, was taken through the area of Sri Madhava Perumal Temple zone and returned to the Amman temple where abishekam took place.
