Obituary: Ramarathnam S. Retired MRF senior executive, managed MRF Pace Foundation

Ramarathnam Srinivasan, who retired in a senior capacity at MRF Ltd. and was instrumental in the formation and the running  of the MRF Pace Foundation passed away on April 30. He was a resident of Kasturi Estates, Alwarpet.

He was  born on April  19,1937 in Madras to K S Srinivasan and Shakuntala , was the grandson of Kasturi Gopalan of The Hindu newspaper and K S Krishnaswamy Iyengar, chief justice of the erstwhile Cochin presidency.

He was raised in Mylapore, did his schooling in P. S. High School, under-grad studies in Vivekananda College and got his B Tech degree from Annamalai University.

He began his career with MRF Ltd., joining as one of the earliest engineers at the behest of his maternal uncle G Narasimhan in the early 1960s. He worked with the company in various capacities till his retirement in 2003.

He was instrumental in the formation and the running  of the MRF Pace Foundation with Dennis Lillee which has trained and produced world -lass pace bowlers.

He spent his whole life as a resident of Kasturi Estates.

He is survived by Arvind, Priya Dayanidhi Maran and Harini.
