70070 – are the total votes polled by TVK’s P. Venkataraman who was declared elected from the Mylapore constituency this Monday evening ( May 4).
He was awarded the certificate by the officer at the CEG hall in Anna University campus where counting of ballots was held.
41098 votes were polled by the DMK’s Dha Velu, the sititng MLA.
32328 votes were polled by the BJP’s Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.
Venkataramanan established a lead from the first round and this kept climbing over the day. It turned to be a huge lead before lunch time.
20 rounds of counting took place.
