Renovation work is currently underway at Nageswara Rao Park in Mylapore. The ongoing work has made it harder for visitors to use the park comfortably.
However, despite the inconvenience caused by the renovation, some visitors still come for walking, exercise and their daily fitness routines.
Saraswathi (55), a resident of Alwarpet, said she visits the park regularly and uses the free gym facilities available there. She said the free facilities are useful for many residents and help them stay active. However, she added, “It is difficult to walk around comfortably because of the renovation work.”
M.Devaraj (62), a resident of Teynampet and a former bus conductor, said he visits the park regularly for his daily walk. Following health concerns and on the advice of his doctor, he took up walking as part of his routine. He said the park provides a good space for exercise, but the ongoing renovation work has made walking slightly inconvenient. “Walking has become a part of my daily routine and it has helped improve my health,” he said.
Ponnusamy (36), a resident of Mylapore, said he had come to the park with the goal of completing his daily 10,000 steps. “I came here to complete my 10,000 steps, but I was disappointed due to the renovation work,” he said.
