K. Periyanayaki, former physical training teacher of Lady Sivaswami Girls Hr Secondary School, Mylapore passed away on June 6.
She put in 32 years of service at the school and retired in 2003.
Her colleagues at the school said she was a sincere and dedicated teacher who brought many laurels when students won medals and trophies. They said many sports stars of the schools managed to get good jobs too.
She was the first recipient from this school of the Dr Radhakrishnan award for best teacher.
