The Vidya Mandir team of Vedansh Saraf, Sudarshan K. and AdvaithV. of Class 11 won the top prize and rolling trophy in the annual Madras Day ‘Heritage of Chennai’ contest for city schools hosted by Mylapore Times on August 10.
The theme for this multi-media project was ‘Our Streets’ and the Vidya Mandir team chose to focus on two mada veedhis around Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore.
The event was held at Ranade Library, Luz in association with SINA. The judge for the contest, Kanaka Cadambi ( an independent editor) is seen presenting the trophy in the first photo featured here. Mylapore Times’ editor Vincent D Souza was the other judge.
The team of AMM School, Kotturpuram was placed second and the team of Padma Seshadri Bal Bhavan, T. Nagar was placed third.
Teams covered streets in areas like George Town, Mylapore, Thiruvotriyur and Royapuram.
