45 students who are members of the Astronomy Club and Maths Club of Vidya Mandir school, Luz were taken to Sriharikota to witness the launch of India’s first dedicated imaging satellite operating from a geosynchronous orbit. The launch took place on Sept.4
The 2,367 kg spacecraft enables advanced imaging across visible, infrared, multi-spectral, and hyperspectral bands. It will provide real-time data for disaster management (tracking cyclones, floods, and forest fires), agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
The students and teachers started from the school at about 9:30 pm on Thursday to make the trip. They were accommodated for the night on the ISRO campus but had to wake up by 1.30a.m. to witness the launch at about 2.55 a.m.
The group returned to the city after being refreshed.
The visit was arranged by Science Exhibition Group.
