The basketball team of Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore were winners in the first basketball tourney that this school hosted at its courts for city school teams.
The final was held on September 9. Fifteen school teams participated.
The hosts beat the team of Chengalpattu Govt Higher Secondary School in an exciting match. The team of St.Kevins Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Royapuram was placed third,
Rani Sampath, the school’s physical director and coach Sampath have been coaching the Lady Sivaswami School team.
Said Janaki Gururajan, school headmistress: “We launched this tourney to give opportunities to our girls to compete with other teams to improve their skills and standing. We also want to encourage our other students to play basketball and be involved in sport.”
