Slaterpuram resident Ajith died on Dr D G S Dinkaran Road when the bike he was riding crashed into a median near the Dr. Ambedkar Memorial in R. A. Puram in the early hours of Sept.9.
Police said that Ajith and his friend had a stiff drink in their area (which is located north of Sri Madhava Perumal Temple, Mylapore and alongside Buckingham Canal) got onto a bike and were on a high-speed joy ride at midnight.
The pillion rider was rushed to a state hospital and is in a serious condition.
Foreshore Estate police station is investigating the case.
