Mahalaya Amavasya is being observed this Saturday. A time for people to remember the memory of their parents and others who have passed away.
In Mylapore, hundreds of people lined up along the R K Mutt Road side to wait for their turn to take part in rituals priests conducted on the pavement off the tank of Sri Kapali Temple.
People were here around 5 a.m. and the crowd got bigger as day broke.
Police were on patrol in this zone – they helped toregulate the traffic and people who tended to crowd on the main road.
