Community leaders and heads of residents’ welfare associations across Mylapore are upset with the manner is which a civic grievances meeting headed by the Mylapore MLA was said to have been held on Saturday. The meet was held at a community hall on K B Dasan Road, Alwarpet.
They say that an invitation for this meet was not shared with them although the MLA’s office as well as agencies like GCC and Metrowater have all the contacts and normally, reps of community bodies are alerted to such meets.
They say that a note on this meet was made public on the MLA’s social media page.
It said that officers of many state departments would be present at this meet to listen to public complaints and discuss them.
“Looks like this meet was a mere eye-wash and for creating a record,” said one disgusted community activist of R A Puram.
Said another activist of East Abiramapuram; “The public had no clue about this meeting. Looks like a ‘secretive’ meeting. Neither Chennai Corporation AEs or the area councillors bothered to send a note to the public or RWAs.”
