Gang murders two men in Mylapore colony

Mylapore police say they have arrested six persons including a woman following the murder of two men in Slaterpuram colony, which is located behind the imposing CitiCentre shopping mall in east Mylapore.

The cold blooded murders took place on the night of Feb.10 when a gang whose members reside in the other side of the colony located their victims in their houses and knifed them. One man died on the spot and another in hospital.

Police said that gang rivalry is the cause of their murders.

Gangs thrive in these areas and their members have either been booked for crimes or are known for creating trouble.

Slaterpuram lies on the banks of a local canal and is a slum where huts have given way to bits and pieces houses that survive cheek by jowl here.

This ‘puram’ is located in the more congested part of the Mylapore  neighborhood.
