A young man was knifed to death on the premises of the MRTS railway station in Mandaveli recently.
A love affair is said to have been the reason for this murder.
Local police later arrested the accused.
Last year, a similar murder took place in the Greenways Road MRTS station. In this case, a gang targetted a youth who was meeting his girlfriend at the station. Both lived in the neighborhood.
Commuters who use the MRTS rail system have a string of complaints against the MRTS and security tops that list. All stations are sprawling buildings which are mostly badly-lit and uninhabited.
Besides absence of security, many facilities here do not function.
The MRTS rail system is not fully patronized by people because of its limited coverage and absence of inter-nodal transport link facility.
