Most places in Mylapore wore a deserted look as many shops observed bandh today, Sept.20.
This bandh was to protest against the government allowing FBI (Foreign Direct Investment) in the retail business.
The frequency of MTC buses in the neighbourhood was low. Most shops, restaurants were closed in San Thome, Foreshore Estate, Luz and Alwarpet areas.
The bandh in this neighbourhood was intiated by Mylai Vyabarigal Sangam. They had posters all over the place urging shopkeeper to close down.
Some tea shops, pharmacies and institutions run by the State Government was open.
