AIADMK candidate for Chennai South for the oncoming Lok Sabha elections, Dr J. Jayavardhan filed his papers at the Returning Officer’s desk in Adyar on Friday afternoon.
The candidate came in a procession in which AIADMK and BJP cadres held up party flags and shouted slogans.
Later, Jayavardhan, accompanied by Mylapore MLA R. Nataraj and two others submitted his papers to the officer at the Chennai Corporation office on L. B. Road, Adyar.
Jayavardhan says that small meetings with party cadres and those of the BJP, the AIADMK’s main ally will be held on the weekend and campaigning will start next week.
