Senior living in Lazarus Church Rd tests ‘positive’; residents to be screened

A senior citizen living off Lazarus Church Road in R A Puram tested positive on April 19, Sunday after he was admitted to a private hospital the previous day, showing symptoms of the virus.

A family member who mailed Mylapore Times confirmed the news late Sunday but denied the man had any travel history.

Residents said that they came to know of the case when a group of health workers and police barricaded the 2nd Lane here, metres beyond Our Lady of Guidance Church, popularly called Lazarus Church.

On Monday morning, health workers arrived with a mini van. They said they will take residents in the flats where the affected man was living to testing centres in Triplicane or Nungambakkam.

Only the lane has been barricaded for now; access through other streets and roads is open.
