Ganesha Chathurthi mahotsavam will be celebrated on September 19. Many temples have arranged special homam, abhishekam and sandal decoration for the image of Ganesha. Some of the events are listed below:
Sri Siddhi Buddhi Sametha Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Temple, R. A. Puram is celebrating from September 9 to 18.
Ganapathy homam will be performed daily at 6.45 a.m. One day Laksharchanai will be held on Sep.16 from 8.30 a.m. onwards.
Music concerts will be held in the evenings from Sep.20 to 24, 5 p.m. onwards.
On Sep.19 Navakalasa snapana pooja and Ganapathi homam will take place at 7 a.m.
Ekadasa rudra abhishekam in the morning and Thiruveethi ula in the evening on the same day. Ph: 2432 8084.
Sri Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, Luz Church Road has a host of programmes from Sep.17 to 23.
Abhishekam will be held every morning.
There will be a debate in Tamil, from 7.30 p.m onwards on Sep.17 to be judged by Suki Sivam and on Sep.18 to be judged by S. Raja and on Sep.20 to be judged by Ilampirai Manimaran.
On Sep.19 there will be Thevara isai by S. Gurunaganathan at 9.30 a.m. and bhajans by Bhakthaswara Bhajan Mandali at 6 p.m.
Devotional music by Veeramani Raju from 7.30 p.m. onwards.
On Sep.21 Oonjal urchavam will be held. Kadari Goplanath will present a Saxophone concert at 8 p.m.
On Sep.22 there will be a veena concert by Rajesh Vaidya.
In Sri Adrishta Vinayagar Alayam, West Circular Road, Mandaveli the image of Ganesha will be decorated with vegetables and fruits on Sep.21 and annadanam will take place on Sep.23.
Raja Vinayagar Alayam, St. Mary’s Road is celebrating this occasion for the 44th year.

Sri Selva Vinayagar Temple, 2nd Trust main Road, Mandaveli is celebrating the event for the 48th year.
On Sep.19 Pushpa pallaku thiruveethi ula will take place at 8 p.m. Annadanam will take place from Sept. 19 to 27.
Sri Balavinayakar Temple, Warren Road is organising yagasalai poojai, laksharchanai, vedam and thirumurai parayanam, daily and sandana kappu every evening. Thiruveethi ula will be held on Sep.20.
Music concerts will be presented every evening till Sep.19. Artistes include O. S. Arun on Sep.15, Kadari Goplanath on Sep.16. Sikkil Gurucharan on Sep17, Rajesh Vaidya on Sep.18 and Sudha Raghunathan on Sep.19.
