Monsoon begins; water does not stagnate on key roads but road conditions are bad

The north-east monsoon seems to have set in a tad early. Monsoon rains hit the city last weekend and it has been raining on and off in the Mylapore neigbbourhood.

The past three days a drive around the area made it clear that water did not stagnate on the main roads. Stagnation was an issue in the small colonies and slums.

The bigger problem though is that main, busy roads which have not been repaired for months now are coming apart faster because of water seepage.

This is evident in R. A. Puram, Alwarpet, Mylapore and Mandaveli.

On roads like 3rd Cross Street, R A Puram the sewage and garbage now pollutes the rainwater and laves this area in a mess.
