The National Green Tribunal’s South Bench has given an interim stay on Chennai Corporation’s plan to widen the Loop Road along the Marina in San Thome. This was in response to a petition from a city resident who said the civic body was violating CRZ regulations. The civic body said it was only going to remove encroachments.
However in the past the road on the seaside was widened but work abandoned when activists raised their voices.
