The Saraswathi Educational, Cultural and Charitable Trust will be conducting its 12th Vasant Utsav Festival of Dance from May 2 – 14 at Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore. The trust has been running this festival as a free event for the promotion and patronage of Indian Dance.
Guru Chitra Visweshwaran, Secretary, Iyal Isal Nadaka Manram will inaugurate the event on May 2, 5.30 p.m. and Prema Pandurangan will be giving away the awards. Dancer Leela Samson and guru Mahua Mukherjee, eminent exponent and guru of Gaudiya Nrithya will be the recipients of the awards amongst other renowned vedic scholars and musicians.
Highlights include performances by Mahua Mukherjee and group, kuchipudi by guru Binesh Mahadevan and Kuchipudi Art Academy, kathak by Jigyasa Giri’s disciples and Odissi by guru Sanhita Gose’s disciples.
