Focus on pallavis in Carnatic music; lec-dems, concerts from today

Pallavi Darbar is a three-day Carnatic music fest that begins on July 5 at MFAC sabha, Mylapore. The aim is to educate rasikas and artistes on pallavis. The launch at 4.15 p.m. features vidwan Chitravina Narasimhan, P S Narayanaswamy and Suguna Varadachari.

At 5.15 p.m. nagaswaram by Injikudi E M Subramaniam and at 7 p.m. Abhishek Raghuram performs.

On July 6 and July 7 (Monday and Tuesday), the venue is Bhavans, Mylapore. On Monday, July 6, Dr Manda Sudharani speaks on Types of Pallavis and its intricacies at 4.00 p.m., and Ramakrishnan Murthy performs at 7p.m.

On July 7, vidwan Chitravina Narasimhan gives a lec-dem at 4 p.m. and Bharat Sundar sings at 5.15 p.m. and at 7 p.m. it is Dr Pantula Rama who performs.

Open to all. This event is hosted by Carnatica and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha.
