Another leg of the civic project of Chennai Corporation to better the layout and landscape of the heritage precinct around Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore and in Luz is about to begin. Work is expected to begin to lay a new and wide footpath along the edge of the tank of Sri Kapali Temple on South Mada Street.
The first part of the project is on now on Luz Church Road where smart pavements are being laid.
In course of time, similar pavements will come up at Luz Circle and on all the mada streets.
The intention is to improve the look and use of the civic facility in this area. There is talk that once the pavements are laid, traffic on the mada streets will be made ‘one way’.
