A commercial space can take on many different avatars. It has happened in San Thome.
The fairly popular Madurai Meenakshi Bhavan ( Nalan) on San Thome High Road ( diagonally opposite CSI St Thomas Church) closed down a few months ago. A signage said a pazha mudhir shop ( veggies and fruits shop) was to come up soon.
Suddenly, the signage was yanked off a vegetarian restaurant opened.
It closed inside a fortnight and now, a veggies and fruits shop has opened. Stocks are not complete and billing is slow as the newbies grapple with daily work.
Nalan used to be a convenient breakfast stop for church-goers on Sundays. There are three, large-congregation churches on this side of the road and after service, people breakfasted at Nalan where the three chutneys and hot sambhar was a big hit.
