Mylapore Festival 2017; preparations on to set up stalls, stages and booths

The 15th edition of Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival will open on the morning of January 5, with the unique mike-less classical music concert in Nageswara Rao Park, Luz at 7 a.m. Over the next three mornings, there will be concerts that start the day’s series of cultural events of this popular festival.

Sundaram Finance Managing Director, T T Srinivasaraghavan said at a press meet held on Tuesday that the park has been cleared of the fallen trees and garden waste but since the Chess Square where the concerts are held looks bare, since the green cover has been lost, a shamiana will have to be erected for the artistes.

Work is on at four venues around Sri Kapali to set the scene for the Festival events. On Wednesday, workers were busy on Sundareswarar Street, setting up what will be the Food Street stalls zone.

The two stages that are set up for live shows in Sannidhi Street Square will be up by Thursday morning while the stalls on two other streets near the temple will also be up that day.
