Heat wave warning issued; Local schools take action

With the State disaster management department sending out a heat wave warning for the next two days, local schools are contemplating several measures to help their students beat the heat.

At Vidya Mandir, Mylapore messages have been sent to the parents asking them to pick up their wards at 11 a.m. instead of 1.30 p.m. from tomorrow, April 18 till their last working day – Friday, April 21.

At Lady Sivaswami Girls School, Mylapore, the principal Rubi Puthotta says that they are waiting for information from the Education department.

In the absence of any notification, the students of classes VI to IX will come in for their annual exams. For Class XII students, classes are going on and they will be safe inside the classroom, she says.
